Notebook
Design Planning
For starting my design process I wanted to create a notebook cover that was unique to myself and the adventures in life I have gone through for example moving from Colorado to South Carolina and then to Wisconsin. Also my passion for sports like soccer and skiing. I drew things like a ski mask and the states I have lived in to as well as winter landscapes.
|
After that I added ski goggles and a hat clipart and snowflakes ro the front cover because I like skiing and the winter time. After this I rotated both files 90 degrees and put them onto the same document and used the centering tool to center them and the spacing tool to space them evenly apart. After that I sent it off to my teacher to be engraved and then later picked up by myself.

Engraved Water Bottle
Design Planning
Designing in Illustrator
To begin the designing process I started with a 10 inch by 10 inch art board. Then using the water bottle vector image provided I created a rectangle to fit the work space and dimensions of the water bottle I would be printing on. I would not use a red outline because I am not cutting all the way through.
|
Next I found the logo of our high school soccer team that I wanted to base the bottle off of and converted it to a black and white logo and inserted it in. After that I Added my first name and last name in the corners because when it wraps all the way around the will be read as "Pavlik, Brenden" which is my last and first name. After I added those in a created outlines for all of them and made sure they were all black so it would engrave and not fully cut out. After sizing correctly I sent the file off to my teacher to be engraved so that I can pick it up.

What I Learned
I learned how to use illustrator to create very cool interesting and personalized laser engraved objects. I really became much more comfortable with using illustrator to design things and I also really enjoyed the designing process and creating these customized notebook covers and water bottle. I hope I get more chances to design and create things similar to these in the future as I had a lot of fun and learned how to cut things out verses engraving them.
